Mr. Lu Haihu was president of Shanghai Port Authority from
1998-2003 and was appointed president of Shanghai International
Port Group in 2003. He graduated from Shanghai Maritime
University, and also studied at University of Fudan, Management
School and Georgia University of Engineering. He has also
contributed to many academic books in recent years. Mr.
Lu has many years of experience at port management position.
He possesses strong academic knowledge and wide hands-on
management experience in both macro-level and leadership.
He has made great efforts and also outstanding achievements
in the open-up and development of Shanghai International
Port Group, in particular its aim of becoming a leading
domestic and a world-class port group, the development of
Shanghai Port towards an International containership hub,
and the development of Shanghai towards an international
shipping centre. Shanghai International Port Group handled
a total throughput of 11.28 million teu in 2003, making
Shanghai the third largest container port in the world.
The total throughput handled from January to May this year
reached 5.5 million teu, an increase of 29.26% compared
with the same period last year. In addition, Shanghai International
Port Group is also the most visited port by containerships
among China's coastal ports, with the most shipping lines
covered by its services.
