John C. Harris holds an honours degree in Minerals Engineering from the University of Birmingham, and an MBA from the Open University in the UK. He joined Drewry Shipping Consultants in 1991 and was appointed a director of the company in 1997 and currently leads the company's Strategic Shipping Group.

Prior to joining Drewry, John carried out technical and commercial research, working latterly for a leading mining house. Since joining Drewry he has gained considerable experience of the main shipping sectors and is regularly involved in due diligence and strategic advisory work.

John has travelled extensively in the Asia and the Middle East, and presented papers at a number of leading international conferences. He has undertaken a wide range of shipbuilding projects, including due diligence for potential investors in a South Korean yard. In China, he recently led a market study looking at a major domestic shipbuilding facility, and was also involved in providing advice to a multi-lateral lender looking to finance vessels for an inland shipping company.
