Hans Peters is the founder of Baltic Maritime Advisor -
a multi-disciplinary international partnership that comprises
a global network of investment bankers, project advisers,
and industry specialists who assist clients worldwide in
various shipping and port sectors. He is also a professor
at George-Mason-University (Virginia) teaching graduate
courses related to seatrade, maritime transport, and ports,
as well as logistics management, project finance, and multimodal
transport systems.
Hans Peters used to be a principal of Transport and Maritime
Industries for the World Bank and Transport Advisor of International
Finance Corporation (IFC). His responsibilities included
formulation of support strategies for the maritime sector,
especially ports, and freight transport industries in the
Bank's borrowing member countries; coordination of all World
Bank group lending and advisory services related to shipping,
ports, and trade/industry logistics management; and operational
support in these activities to all work units in the Bank's
six Regional Vice-Presidencies and the IFC. In this capacity
incumbent also acted as primary liaison contact for all
international organizations associated with the maritime
sector, and for the maritime industries at large.
EDUCATION: Civil Engineering with emphasis on transport
systems management (Universities of Darmstadt and Kiel,
Germany; Graz, Austria--Diplom-Ingenieur) and transport
economics (University of California at Berkeley--Master
of Science; PhD candidate). Business administration courses
organized by the World Bank. Corporate and financial management
(Darden Graduate School of Business Administration, University
of Virginia--Certificate).
